the peopleβs game
(documentary / director)
For 15 years, Sri Lanka suffered one of the most brutal civil wars in modern history, fueled by ethnic tensions and a fight for an independent state. In 1996, hope appeared in the most unlikely formβan upstart cricket team full of semi-professionals representing every ethnic group in Sri Lanka. In the midst of war, the world watched as one team united its people by defining what it meant to be Sri Lankan, proving that in the face of fear, hope is humanity's driving force. In 1996, cricket became more than just a game. It became part of the people.
The People's Game is currently in development.
